Overview

This speedy Tier V Premium French light tank combines the hull of the AMX 13 and the turret of the Panhard EBR wheeled armored car with a 75 mm gun adapted for countering guerilla warfare tactics in the dense jungles of Southeast Asia in the 1950s. Like other French light tanks, the reduced weight makes this mobile hunter fun to play, and it also possesses good camouflage values so you can be sneaky.

While it may not have become a mass-produced tank, it remains a testament to the ingenuity and resourcefulness of its designers. No surviving examples of the AMX 13 (FL 11) are known today, yet its story lives on through historical records and provides a glimpse into a fascinating chapter of armored warfare.

The tank's modifications, unique design, and historical significance go beyond its military service. It acted as a stepping stone for future French experiments with air-transportable tanks, leading to the development of vehicles like the ELC EVEN and AMX-ELC programs.

The AMX 13 (FL 11) joins the family of French light tanks characterized by their small size and fantastic mobility—but also by their underwhelming firepower.

The tank carries a French 75 mm semi-automatic low-recoil rifled cannon specifically designed to be mounted on the EBR eight-wheeled armored reconnaissance vehicle. The gun inflicts 110 HP of damage per shot with a penetration value of 108 mm for a primary AP round. However, an ACPR shell in the right hands can penetrate 148 mm of armor. The maximum DPM is calculated at 1,124 HP/min without equipment, but with the ideal crew perks and equipment, this can increase to 1,223 HP/min.

The weapon's handling is satisfactory even at higher speeds. The dispersion at 100 m is 0.39 m, and the aiming time is set at a whopping 2.1 s. Compared to the V AMX ELC bis , the overall DPM is traded here for the stability of the gun.

The AMX 13 (FL 11) may have one of the lowest health pools with only 500 HP, but it has the second-strongest armor of all Tier V light tanks—only after the V VK 16.02 Leopard .

The 50 mm hull armor and 40 mm turret armor allow you to be a little gung ho as they can resist fire from medium-penetration guns, but you should not be the tank leading the charge and trading shots one on one with enemies—don't rely on your ability to take many hits.

As a French light tank, the AMX 13 (FL 11) is clearly very mobile. Although it leads the rankings at its tier with an impressive 65 km/h top speed, reaching the top speed is not so easy, with a total weight of 12.2 tons and a power-to-weight ratio of 22.13 hp/t. Agility may not be the best in the business, but the solid armor (for a light tank) will get you out of a few sticky situations.

Most importantly for light tanks, the key attributes are camouflage and surveillance. The AMX 13 (FL 11) boasts a 360 m view range, which is the same value as the AMX ELC bis or the Leopard. The 400 m radio range gives you an extra boost in battle.

Despite the size of the tank, the AMX 13 (FL 11) is stealthy with impressive stationary and moving camouflage—second only behind its brother, the AMX ELC bis, in the camouflage ranking.
